Congratulations to the Character & Academic Awards Recipients!

The recent Character and Academic Awards Ceremony aka “Commencement Eve” at The Knox School stood out as a cherished tradition, celebrating the remarkable achievements of our students. In her welcome speech, Head of School Virginia Riccardi emphasized the significance of this evening, which honors those who have made a lasting impact on the school community.

Faculty, staff, and administration come together to recognize students whose actions, words, and deeds have significantly contributed to the positive atmosphere at Knox. The character and academic awards in the form of historic trophies presented on this night, bearing names dating back to the school’s early days, symbolize the enduring legacy that these students leave behind.

Our Seniors Close the Night with A Gift

The Senior Sunset Ceremony is a heartfelt segment of the “Commencement Eve” celebration. Senior Class President Lejla Lekic addressed her peers, emphasizing the significance of their collective journey and the hard work that brought them to this moment.

The ceremony also featured the cherished traditions of Senior Class Singing and the passing of the lanterns (or “passing of the candles” because of weather-related challenges). These moments symbolized the seniors’ final “gift of song” to the school and the transfer of leadership to the Class of 2025. Lejla challenged her classmates to uphold their character, preserve their uniqueness, and approach life with love and positivity.

The Senior Sunset Ceremony not only celebrated the seniors’ achievements but also reinforced the enduring bonds within the Knox community, reminding everyone that, despite the end of their high school journey, they will always have a home beside the shore.
